Great Gatsby 1920s Flapper Headband with Mela Hoyt-Heydon

So many holiday parties have a Downton Abbey or 1920’s theme and every woman needs a fabulous headpiece to finish off their ensemble. Using a multitude of appliqués, sequins, diamantes, beads and more, we will show you how to create your very own headwear perfect for any themed 1910-1920’s party or New Years celebration.

Supplies

• ¼ yard Italian nylon canvas –  Mood Fabrics in NYC and Los Angeles, both carry it.
• 1-yard tulle or fine, soft mesh fabric
• Embroidered and/or beaded appliques to co-ordinate with tulle (Mela will have a large assortment to purchase from at cost. If you want a particular color, let her know in advance)
• Thread to match
• 2 yards 18- or 19-gauge millinery wire
• Narrow white round elastic cord or hat elastic
• Assorted diamante (rhinestones), small beads (Mela will have an assortment)
• E600 or 450 glue for rhinestone attachment
• Basic sewing kit with: Wire cutters, sewing shears, tape measure, dress making pins, wonder clips or pegs, fabric marking pen or chalk, hand sewing needles
• Sewing machine-If you are driving and wish to bring your sewing machine you are welcome to do so. Arrowmont has a few machines for our use.
